Abandoned Farm, Newbury

I liked the buildings of the old abandoned farm which we saw on our walking tour of 'The Battles of Newbury'. Actually the second battle took place quite near this farm, although I am not sure it was in existence in 1644.

From Wikipedia

The Second Battle of Newbury was a battle of the English Civil War fought on 27 October 1644, in Speen, adjoining Newbury in Berkshire. The battle was fought close to the site of the First Battle of Newbury, which took place in late September the previous year.

The combined armies of Parliament inflicted a tactical defeat on the Royalists, but failed to gain any strategic advantage.

The walk was very interesting and informative and I can recommend it.

    Hello, Alan.

Actually, the farm is near the site of the 1st battle of Newbury (1643) which we saw on the walk. The 2nd battle (1644) was near Donnington/Speen. We visited the ruins of Donnington Castle. Hope you are both well and enjoyed Portugal (apart from the wildfires).
