High Street, Oxford
When I saw Turner's painting of this scene at the Ashmolian I was struck by how little the buildings had changed over the years apart from the cobbled street, the people and the modern street furniture.
Turner painted his in oils but I decided to render it in pencil and wash to get the details of the buildings.
I shouldn't compare my humble efforts with the great man but I have reproduced the Turner below perhaps just to show the lack of change in the buildings and to put mine in its place.
