Bridge of Sighs, Oxford

For my third Oxford city-scape painting I have chosen 'The Bridge of Sighs', sometimes known as Hertford Bridge.

This is one of the best known landmarks in Oxford and familiarly named after the Ponte die Sospiri in Venice. The bridge, built between 1913/14, links the two buildings of Hertford College.

Although the building of the bridge was strongly opposed by New College it has become a much admired architectural feature of the city.
